This new system we are use is great. Seems like most of the riders are about the same speed in the Cvet Class. We had a train of cvet riders for about 2 laps. The class markings are not so good though. There are way to many bikes without colored backgrounds and numbers on the side plates. The temp work great but i think they should have them on the side pannels too. You never no who u are competing with as it stands now. Many helmets did not even have colored tape on the back.. Even if they did u still dont know if they are C open or Cvet. I really think we need to give out 3 temps for the people who do not have side numbers....Its very frustrating when aproaching a rider in a race. I dont want to yell at someone that is in my class to move over and pass them..Thats not racing.

Thanks for the input everyone, keep it coming!
I'm working very hard to work out all the kinks, scoring has turned into a job, there is more equipment to haul around and manage now. (computers, printers, transponders, transponder programmer, antenna, score board, tents, paper, oval stickers...) Race day is pretty hectic and we try very hard to accommodate and address any and all questions. We will get better with time and experience.
Regarding tape on the back of the helmet... That seemed like a really good idea, however is it really necessary?
Regarding class colors, to keep track of everything(motos, class, overall, Adv Pct, etc.) we needed to make some kind of change regarding classes. We had a few choices. 1. do nothing to identify different classes, this is the EASY solution and it is what a lot of other series do and I've never heard anything positive about doing it that way. Horrible for racers and spectators. 2. change our class number ranges, this will work for the short term, however over time you run out of numbers. Once a bike number is assigned to a rider, it stays with that rider for the entire year(member or not. Better for racers not so good for spectators. 3. class colors to identify classes, this seemed to be the best solution, both from a racer perspective and from the spectator perspective.
We, the officers, are discussing how to make #3 better.
So you ask.. What can I do to help? . run the correct class color number plates on your bike, all three sides. . spread the word, tell other riders to run the correct color number plates. . if you see a riders that does not, tell them, they are subject to a race day penalty if they don't conform.
It is up to ALL of us to help keep this series on track and running smooth.
P.S. please don't suggest something that you would not be willing to do yourself on a voluntary basis. |
